Welcome to Book Chats!

Book Chats started as nothing more than our senior internship project. The reading of eight books (plus three more!) that corresponded to four different age ranges: children's, middle grade, young adult, and adult. We read two for each, one novel a contemporary, the other a classic. We then recorded four podcasts corresponding to those of the age groups.

We had the pleasure of interviewing some of our favorite authors, N. Griffin, the author of the Smashie McPerter series and Heather Vogel Frederick, author of the Mother-Daughter Book Club series. As well as our school librarian and our creative writing teacher.

The books we read were: Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary, Smashie McPerter and the Mystery of Room 11 by N. Griffin, Little Women by Lousia May Alcott, The Mother-Daughter Book Club by Heather Vogel Frederick, the Betsy-Tacy Series (specifically Betsy and Joe) by Maud Hart Lovelace, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche.

After hours of reading, recording, discussing, and laughing to no return, Book Chats was a completed project, and we were left in reading slumps and tears. It had easily been one of the six week periods of our life, and we missed being able to talk about what we loved in a more serious manner.

In comes Book Chats: The Blog. After thinking it over, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to continue this project, but just in a different medium. Writing is something that we both love and found that making a blog was going to be a fun thing to do!

We want to share our love of reading! We want to be able to put our thoughts in one place, and let other bookworms comment and read them. We want to help build this community into one that is even bigger!

We love books a lot. More than a lot. And this a blog dedicating to keeping that passion alive and well!
